Rooined.

See that? That right there my friends, is a pun. Or, a poor attempt at one anyway.

Before I start, I would just like to make it clear that I have no fascination towards Wayne Rooney or the England national team, despite my last two blogs focusing on the aforementioned, but I felt this was necessary, so here goes.
Jennifer Thompson - I don't like you.

Today's news : Wayne Rooney has paid you £1,200 per night for 'naughty things' on numerous occasions in the last couple of months leading up to the World Cup in South Africa.

This will no doubt roo-in (last time, I promise) the 'Family Man' reputation of the Manchester United striker and will continue to dominate the tabloid headlines until there is sufficient action taken for the tabloids to leave it be. Just like the Cheryl and Ashley Cole break-up, the papers will keep on and on until a divorce/split/murder is announced by the couple.

So here are the questions;

Should Rooney be banned from international duty? Terry was stripped of the captaincy when he was caught doing 'naughty things' with Wayne Bridge's ex - piece.

Will his wife Coleen leave him? She stuck by him before after previous allegations, so why would she give up on him now? Especially after the recent birth of their son, Kai.

And finally, are we witnessing the 'next generation' of footballer's?

Footballers in England were once renowned role models and looked upon as all round 'good guys'.

Play a match - go home to your wife - eat a takeaway - run it off Monday to Friday and repeat.

Nowadays it seems that all players want to do is flash the cash in front of girls and keep it all very 'hush hush', 'mum's the word' etc.

John Terry and Ashley Cole were the villains because of such allegations in the run up to the World Cup - and now England has a new villain in the shape of Rooney in the run up to the Euro's in 2012.

But what of the women the player's look to for their 'naughty thrills'?

Jenny Thompson - the girl who sold her story at the weekend, probably seeks out the attention of footballer's (a guess) and once she has it, uses it to her financial advantage (a fact)

"...Self confessed vice-girl, Jenny....", Says it all really.

I'm a tad bitter writing this, mainly because, like many England fans, I like Wayne Rooney (when he performs) and am saddened that he has become the latest folk devil of the British media.

England vs. Switzerland tomorrow night in the second qualifier in a week. Will Rooney be booed? Jeered? Played??

Here's hoping for the latter. Score a hat-trick and play out of your skin tomorrow Wayne, and maybe the 'scandal' headlines will cease for a day or two.

Wayne Rooney is a legend... In the footballing world. He's not so popular in the various Women's institutes across the country at the moment, I know.

But he'll be on the front cover of my copy of Fifa 11 when it comes out in October, and will continue to score plenty of goals for club and country, which is all we need to worry about at the end of the day. I couldn't care less if he sleeps with a thousand women behind Coleen's back.

Keep scoring on the pitch Wayne, and you can do what you like for me son!

But we must face facts - The behaviour of our footballer's has altered dramatically in the last 10, 20, maybe even 30 + years. This is something the media/public must accept sooner rather than later until we start seeing headlines such as;

"England footballer stays loyal? What a gay boy!"

.....Michael Owen.

That is how I wish to end this particular blog. Good evening.
