Branding Brand.

I am writing (after almost a year) because of a conversation i just had with myself, which is happening more and more now that I work for a magazine.... which is leading me to go a tad mental. Stress of deadlines and whatnot.

Anywho. Russell Brand.

"Look at that southern puff, what's he all about?"

"how did HE get Katy Perry?"

"I bet he's just a drugged up twatbasket in real life..."

etc.

These were comments I threw out to my poor television whenever 'Ponderland', BBBM or that MTV awards thing came up onto it.

Then i realised, after an hour, that I could not take my eyes away. Why? Exactly. Russell Brand was strangely appealing to watch for someone which loathed him so.

Millions of women around the world fancy him. It's hard to believe for a 21 year old Sheffield lad who's upbringing included the familiar ideologies of 'long hair, ear rings, necklaces, heels and music are only for girls...' Most of which Russell stands for, excluding the music... he may have released a record actually (?) But you get the jip of my cut.

I have bought 'My Booky Wook'.

It's a good book.

I don't know if it was 'ghost written' or if the 'author' wrote it word-for-word... But, if Russell Brand took the time to write at least 75% of it, then I can safely say that in my opinion, he is a terrific writer.

He has since made me laugh. Lots. On my Facebook profile - under the section marked 'Favourite Quotes' sits this little beauty;

"I like threesomes with two women, not because I'm a cynical sexual predator. Oh no! But because I'm a romantic. I'm looking for "The One". And I'll find her more quickly if I audition two at a time."

- Russell Brand.

I love this quote.

If my life was anything like this quote, then I would;

- be in jail
- have many an STI
- acquire all of the above.

And yet, he makes it work.

I enjoyed the whole 'scandal' thing with Andrew Sachs, Jonathan Ross and Brand. Mainly because;

1) it got me through my second year at uni (due to the amount of times we were told to 'focus on current affairs involving celebrities... i.e. anything which strays away from credible journalism'

and 2) I was fascinated into the level of exaggeration made by the British media/public (which, when connected, becomes a very dangerous relationship) and i learnt a great deal about public perception/first impressions/clunge/gravy/newspapers/lists etc etc etc.

Anyway Russell Brand is a dick and I love him for it.

end. of.
